A blog about the restoration, remodel and renovation of a 1929 Chicago-style brick bungalow

Mmmm, What’s Cookin’?

Usually a snowstorm is the perfect time to cook up some comfort food. But today we’re going to cook up some Bungalow Goodness. So let’s get out our Good Ol’ Irish Stew Pot and start cooking, shall we?

Take several paint-encrusted brass fixture parts and add to pot. Cover completely with water and bring to a boil. Cook for a couple hours until paint is nice and tender.

Strain fixture. Using a pick or other tool, carefully separate paint skin — you know it’s done when it just falls off the “bone”.

We’ll have to add some “sauce”, like a nice citrus-based paint stripper, to get our dish just right, but mmm-mmmm, those are some yummy fixtures!
