A Fine Mess

Phase II of the stripping project is well into its second week. As of yesterday the woodwork in the living room, dining room, foyer, hallway and two bedrooms have been stripped of all their paint. They waited as long as possible before starting on the master bedroom, but yesterday was the day. We moved all our clothes into the basement and third bedroom closet, and moved one of the dressers into the kitchen, leaving two other dressers and the bed in the room.

When we came home from work, all the dressers were in the kitchen, but they knocked out the stripping in one day, which was great. I thought that room would take two days.

I’m assuming that today the sanding will begin. More dread, but what can you do? I know it will be well worth it in the end, and the dust can be cleaned up. Once this is done (should be by Saturday), we’ll be taking a much-needed hiatus from hemorrhaging money. It doesn’t help when your 21-year-old second car needs $800 in repairs and the cat runs up a $350 vet bill on top of all this.

It’ll be a good time to start honing our plastering skills.

I feel your pain on the vet bill. My dog just cost me about $500 in tests because he got sick and, for a while there, I thought he had liver failure or a liver problem (he’s 10 years old). Thankfully, nothing appears wrong, despite earlier indications.

My two cats are both 10 as well. I guess they’re no different than us when we eventually become seniors (in the distant future)! Hope your dog continues to stay healthy!

So far, so good…we’ll see how he takes to a new, senior diet. Thanks for the good thoughts though. 🙂
