I thought I better get these Christmas photos up before 2008 is over! I’ve been around, but just either too busy or too lazy to post lately. I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday — we certainly did.
Thankfully, despite nasty weather on Tuesday, my stepdaughter and her husband managed to fly in from the East Coast only about 1-1/2 hours late. Of course it took them another 1-1/2 hours to get to a gate once they landed at O’Hare, but we finally got them home at about 1:30 a.m.
Pete had to work on Christmas Eve Day, so the three of us went downtown to the Christkindlmarket at Daley Plaza. I’m glad I was able to make it this year; it’s always a great way to get into the Christmas spirit.
Santa was still quite busy in his hut
while the pigeons were trying to keep warm by the eternal flame
and the giant Christmas tree was decorated with eco-friendly compact fluorescent bulbs.
We had most of Pete’s family over on Christmas Eve after dinner at a nearby restaurant, which was a lot of fun, and we were able to relax on Christmas Day.
Here is my Christkindlmarket purchase: an incense smoker.
Then for a short time, Pete had pink frosting growing out his ears:
Pete’s girls gave him custom earphones as a present. The eldest is an audiologist, so she came equipped to make a silicone mold of his ear canals. He always has a hard time keeping earbuds in his ears, so these will allow the iPod earbuds to fit snugly.
Our Christmas decor this year was concentrated around the fireplace:
The Costco poinsettias were a new addition this year. I think they add a nice touch to the fireplace mantel.
