Pool Shark

Guess who loves to “swim around” on the pool table?

I knew he would.

We’re enjoying it ourselves a great deal (even though I suck!) now that we finally have the basement somewhat clear of boxes. There are only about 6 or so left to unpack.

We let the cats down here a couple weeks ago and so far, so good — they’re using their boxes and [to my knowledge] have not pee’d anywhere else. The smell from the PO’s cats is pretty much gone, but I think there’s still one step that we have to replace. I briefly smell it when I get to that point.

We have a cozy seating area in front of the bar with some vintage beauty shop chairs I bought at a local antique store. Last night we put up some shelving for glassware, and hopefully I will clear the crap off the bar this weekend.

Once the spackling is finished, I’m ready to paint! I’m trying out Benjamin Moore’s new low-VOC paint, Aura. They claim that it covers in one coat for most colors, and any sheen is washable/scrubbable because of its ColorLock technology:

With ColorLock technology, the specially designed waterborne colorant actually embeds itself in the binding agent, locking the color and strengthening the final product. The result: minimal color ruboff – in any finish – and an unparalleled level of durability and resistance to water staining.

I’ll be painting the basement in Wheatfield, a kind of golden-peachy color that brings out the [printed] “grain” of the wainscoting the PO installed.

But first, the kitchen gets painted. I chose Kittery Point Green for the walls and a pale yellow for the ceiling. I’ll keep you posted on my progress!

Cat’s just love to spread out huh? I was looking at your earlier post about the kitchen. You mention the corner cabinets being useless – fits only a few mugs…Are these located next to the stove? I’m wondering if they were meant for spice jars since they are so shallow… Just an idea!

Yes, those kitties do think they own the place, don’t they?! Re: the cabinets, there is one located next to the stove, and I do have the spices stored there, so that one is somewhat useful except that it’s hard to see the jars in the corners. Problem is there are three more of those things! I ran out of little things to store. sigh.
